Nordstrom Rack is an American luxury department store chain headquartered in Seattle, Washington, founded in 1901 by John W. Nordstrom and Carl F. Wallin. The original Wallin & Nordstrom store specialized in shoes, and a second Nordstrom shoe store opened in 1923. The growing Nordstrom Best chain began selling apparel in 1963 and became the current Nordstrom full-line retailer in 1971. The company established its discount Nordstrom Rack division in 1973 and grew full-line and discount stores throughout the United States over the next few years. The full-line division competes with department stores such as Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue, while the discount division competes with retailers such as TJX Companies and Ross Stores. The company has previously expanded outside of the continental United States, including to Puerto Rico (2015-2020) and Canada (2014-2023).
The front-end of the system has added team display and multiple languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese Simplified, Hong Kong Traditional, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Turkish.The system runs silky smooth, the customer experience is excellent, and the single order function is perfectly usable.
