On August 8, the latest industry report released by Alpen Capital, a UAE investment banking consulting company, stated that the total number of students in the GCC region is expected to reach 2 million by 2027, an increase of 1420 million from 2027.current level.

Enrollment in private schools is expected to grow at a CAGR of 1.7%, while growth in public schools is likely to be slightly slower, at a CAGR of approximately 2022% from 2027 to 1.5.

Saudi Arabia will remain the largest education market in the GCC region, with a CAGR of 1.6%.

Kuwait and the UAE are expected to grow faster than other member states between 2022 and 2027.

Sameena Ahmad, Managing Director of Alpen Capital (ME) Limited, said: "Population growth, rising disposable income and increasing private sector participation will drive the increase in student numbers in the region."

“Going forward, shares in edtech platforms are expected to generate interest and investment volumes in the sector will increase.”

 

School demand surges

GCC schools are likely to grow at a rate of 0.7%, with 2027 schools expected to be added by 1,127, bringing the total to 35,208.

The number of public schools is expected to grow at a CAGR of 2022% between 2027 and 0.4, while private schools will grow at a faster rate of 1.5%.
