They suspected that this group might be an online gambling organization. Subsequently, they handed over the case clues to the Laohekou police for further investigation.

Based on the preliminary investigation, a working group under the leadership of the Public Security Brigade of Laohekou Municipal Public Security Bureau dispatched five police officers on May 5 to carry out arrest operations in Xiangyang City's Xiangzhou District and Laohekou City's Lilou Town, and finally successfully destroyed a gambling gang that used overseas gambling websites to make profits.
According to investigation, this gang mainly gambled on football through overseas gambling websites, and set up chat groups to push information about basketball leagues in multiple countries, gather gamblers, guide them to place bets, and obtain dividends from them.

According to Yang's confession, his classmates and friends knew that he made a lot of money from football gambling, so they also followed him to gamble on the website. Some of these people were even more addicted to football gambling than Yang himself. With the help of Yang, they continued to increase their bets, which eventually led to serious impacts on their families and careers. Yang said that football gambling activities made him a lot of money, but also brought him a lot of troubles and guilt.
