The length of stay can be divided into two categories: short-term immigrants (residents who have been in the country for less than eight years) and long-term immigrants (residents who have been in the country for eight years or more).
Among the foreign-born, recent immigrants make up just over 50 percent, while established immigrants make up 49.3 percent. Length of stay varies depending on a person's education level.
