While the spot market reflects the broader macro sentiment and remains weak, overall average daily trading volumes rose significantly in March and April, indicating growing investor confidence. Trading volumes for the Stock Connect programmes, including Northbound Stock Connect and Bond Connect, grew significantly, with Bond Connect hitting a record high in the quarter. Recent moves by the China Securities Regulatory Commission, such as expanding eligible ETF The expansion of the Hong Kong Stock Connect and the inclusion of real estate investment trusts in the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect, the inclusion of RMB-denominated stocks in the Southbound Stock Connect, and the support for leading mainland companies to list in Hong Kong will further enhance the attractiveness of Hong Kong's capital market. Looking ahead, despite the current backdrop, we remain optimistic about HKEX's ability to capitalize on China's long-term growth, the huge opportunities to connect with fast-growing capital centers in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, and the continued exciting technological developments in our industry and beyond.
