While the company is best known among consumers for its retail platform, the majority of its operating profits (through 2024) come from its cloud computing division, Amazon Web Services (AWS).AmazonIt has also become a leader in generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) with its Bedrock platform. In media, Amazon is in the midst of the so-called “streaming wars,” with its Prime Video entertainment and sports subscription model, which includes original content, competing for audience share.
AmazonThe company, which got its start with third-party seller services, subscription services and advertising, has long said its goal is to grow sales by "improving all aspects of the customer experience, including lowering prices, improving availability, providing faster delivery times, increasing selection, expanding product information, improving ease of use and earning customer trust," according to SEC filings.
