A fire broke out in a residential building in the Al Ras area of Dubai on Saturday afternoon, killing 16 people and injuring nine.
The Dubai Civil Defense Operations Office was first alerted to the fire at 12:35 pm on Saturday.Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes and had the blaze under control at 2:42 p.m.
It is reported that the fire broke out in an apartment on the fourth floor. The fire scene has been handed over to relevant departments.
A spokesman for the Dubai Civil Defense expressed its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. The Dubai Civil Defense has provided emergency medical assistance to the injured during the fire-fighting process.
Currently, relevant departments are fully investigating the cause of the fire accident.
At present, some of the dead have been identified, including four Indians, three Pakistanis and one Nigerian.
