The Tieshan District Court of Huangshi City, Hubei Province recently heard a case involving illegal border crossing and cross-border online gambling, and 12 defendants were tried.According to information obtained by Jimu News reporters from the Hubei Provincial Higher People’s Court.
According to the case, from 2017 to 2019, five people including the defendants Wang Moumou and Sheng Moumou smuggled into Myanmar multiple times in different ways and participated in gambling activities in Myanmar.
Due to the impact of the epidemic, cross-border gambling channels were blocked, causing many defendants in the case to turn their attention to "online online gambling platforms."
Between 2020 and 2022, a total of nine defendants served as agents and developed members for overseas gambling websites.They collected and paid the gambling funds of lower-level agents through bank transfers and cash handovers, and made huge profits from them. This behavior is suspected of gambling crimes and money laundering crimes.Among them, the defendant Wang Moumou cooperated with three other defendants to remit cash gambling funds of up to 430 million yuan to overseas gambling companies.This behavior not only violates our country's laws and regulations, but also seriously endangers the social and economic order and financial security.These defendants engaged in gambling activities through various means and obtained huge profits. Their actions constituted serious illegal and criminal acts.We must resolutely crack down on this kind of behavior and punish it in accordance with the law.At the same time, we also need to strengthen supervision and prohibit anyone from participating in or organizing gambling activities to maintain social fairness, justice and stability.
