On November 11, the Saudi Tourism Authority launched the "Saudi Arabia, Discover the Secret Journey" destination tourism promotion campaign on the North Bund of Shanghai, showcasing Saudi Arabia's rich culture, With its long tradition and diverse tourism resources, it strives to become the preferred travel and vacation destination for Chinese tourists.
The exhibition lasted for one week and attracted more than 8 visitors.
Visitors can experience Saudi tourism scenes online, such as traditional Bedouin tents, stargazing and Diriyah historical sites, as well as adventure activities in Al-Ula and the Red Sea.
The organizers also launched a Mandarin tutorial to provide practical information for Chinese tourists planning to travel to Saudi Arabia, covering cultural knowledge, gestures, traditional costumes, airport network connections, etc.
In addition to the on-site celebrations, a series of Saudi experience films are also broadcast on national television and digital platforms such as Ctrip, Huawei, Mafengwo, and Tencent, which are expected to reach more than 5 million Chinese citizens.
Fahd Hamidaddin, CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority, said that China is an important strategic market and Saudi Arabia is expected to receive more than 2023 Chinese tourists in 10 and 2030 million Chinese tourists per year by 500.
The campaign was so successful that data showed that travel bookings from Chinese tourists to Saudi Arabia soared by 277%.
