A casino in Macau recently suffered from a criminal group that used fake chips to defraud, resulting in economic losses of up to US$57. The Macau police have launched an investigation and successfully arrested two suspects. On the night of the incident, when the casino dealer was collecting the chips, he found that the texture of some chips was abnormal. After identification, it was found that these chips were fake, so the casino immediately reported the incident to the police.
According to police investigation, a total of 8 people in a criminal group used fake chips for gambling and exchange in the casino, which lasted for more than two hours before being discovered. The police arrested 2 mainland men on the spot, while at least 6 others managed to escape.
The police found fake chips with a face value of more than 200 million yuan on the two suspects. In addition, the casino said that at least 493 fake chips appeared that night, and some players were deceived into exchanging fake chips.
Some criminals abandoned the fake chips when they fled. At present, the police have found 112 similar fake chips in the garbage dump. At present, the police have grasped 804 fake chips, which have caused the casino about $57 in losses.
In recent years, similar casino scams have occurred frequently, and these methods have been constantly upgraded. For this reason, casinos need to be more vigilant and improve the chip anti-counterfeiting mechanism to prevent such incidents from happening again.
